INSPIRATION

Everyone needs a little inspiration to cause fingers to touch the keyboard in an effort to communicate.  My inspiration is a sermon preached by our Hudson United Methodist Church pastor (and good friend and next-door neighbor) Tim Brittain.  His Thanksgiving sermon centered around 1 Thessalonians 5:

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Like Pastor Tim, I've read that passage many times and referred to it frequently, as well.  However, I have a new understanding of it now . . . and realize that the rejoicing, prayer, and giving of thanks are all to GOD for His amazing love, grace, and mercy.  The source of my joy is not earthly, though I love my family and delight in simple pleasures like a fall apple and a baby's laugh.  It is my faith in God and His presence in me, through the Holy Spirit, that enables me to rejoice despite circumstances.  By communicating with Him often throughout the day, the wellspring of JOY continues to overflow.  Thank you, Tim Brittain, for reminding me of my source of joy - and the continuousness of that wellspring, as long as I stay in touch with God.
